Description
This Fairchild Dobro is a Custom-Built Red Flame Colored Quilted Maple Dobro, built by Raymond Fairchild, in Whitehall Pennsylvania and is ..."One of a kind". Ray has been building guitars and Dobro and other instruments for over thirty five years. "One of a kind" means each Guitar and Dobro and Mandolin and other instruments that Ray builds is unique by wood type...color....finish...fret markers...fret board material...number of back wooden pieces...binding.....artistic decoration...they all are equal in quality of appearance and sound....but they are not like other high end builders that "cookie cut" their models........Ray's instruments don't have "set" characteristics.....each just has "Character".....this "One of a Kind" design feature adds value for the buyer looking for a "one and only" custom built Dobro.This Dobro is a large body, measuring 3-3/4 inches bout at the neck and 4-1/4 inches at the tail piece and the final finish is hand buffed... , nine coats of sprayed on nitrocellulose lacquer finish.
This guitar, like all the other Dobros Ray builds is Loud.... with a strong sustain.
This particular Dobro is one of seven of "One of a Kind"...Ray recently completed building.
The type of wood used to build this Dobro is “Quilted Maple...Top, back and sides.”
The fret board is “Ebony”
Fret markers are “MOP, a custom pattern.
Saddle inserts are ebony capped maple
Tuners are Schaller.
Strings are Beard
Cone is Beard
Spider is Beard
All other metal hardware is from Stew-Mac
Comes with a hardshell case.
This Dobro easily compares to all other “high end” custom Dobros and is a better “price per pound”.
